Removing CSP coverage to focus exclusively on the PV solution

10/1/2011

Comments

I decided to move the CSP information from the StratoSolar web site main menu to a lower menu level.  We are focused exclusively on engineering and promoting the PV solution, and covering both solutions does not get this across.  Based on the comments, promoting both solutions is clearly confusing many of our readers as to our intent.  As described in earlier posts the PV solution evolved from the CSP solution in response to the feedback we received in promoting it.  Success in commercializing the PV system will establish several of the technologies a CSP system will also need, and lay the groundwork for its possible development at a future time.

Given the continuing improvement in the cost of PV technology and the development schedule of StratoSolar, commercially shipping StratoSolar PV generated electricity in 2016 will be considerably cheaper than coal generated electricity in the US based on official DOE 2016 estimates.  With political and market acceptance, the potential exists to start reducing the environmental damages of mining and burning coal.
